Cover Reveal | The Menagerie of Jenkins Bailey

Happy Monday everyone 🙂 (as much as a Monday can be happy)

I’m thrilled to finally be able to reveal the cover for my upcoming middle-grade adventure novel, The Menagerie of Jenkins Bailey!

(Cover art by Ricky Gunawan)

Alas, I don’t yet have a firm release date as the edits are taking a touch longer than expected, but it will be out soonish.

Twelve year old Piper Bailey wouldn’t trade her friends for any amount of money―unfortunately, when her dad inherits a fortune, she doesn’t have a choice.

She’s happy with her little house in Syracuse and hand-me-down clothes twenty years out of style. The unexpected windfall is a blessing for her family, but it comes with a giant house hours away in the woods. Heartbroken at being so far from her tiny social circle, she tries to talk her parents into staying home, but they drag her off to the forest anyway.

Piper finds an unexpected friend in a boy who lives in the next house, and the two decide to explore grandpa’s giant mansion. It doesn’t take long for creepy things to start happening. Convinced there’s a malevolent ghost trying to hurt them, she asks her parents for help, but Mom goes from believing Piper is acting out over the unwanted move to being legit crazy.

A near-fatal attack from the spirit strands the kids in a hidden underground complex packed with supposedly mythical creatures. Thinking the strange zoo cruel, Piper is determined to free the creatures, but not all the captives are friendly.

Some are downright evil.

Cover Reveal | Wayfarer: AV494

I’m excited to be able to reveal a new cover!

In Wayfarer: AV494 (described by my publisher as John Carpenter’s The Thing meets The Martian), Kerys Loring finds herself stranded on a planet far from Earth, facing a deadly alien menace as well as something worse–her abusive ex fiancee.

This science-fiction/horror novel releases March 8th via Curiosity Quills Press

Kerys Loring hopes an expedition to a distant alien ruin will make her career―assuming she lives long enough to still have one.

Her last team made a significant find, but her bosses took all the recognition and grant money. When Avasar Biotechnology appeals to her unique combination of experience and desperation, she jumps at the chance, even if it means leaving her little brother behind for a three-year trip.

At least she’ll be thousands of light-years away from her abusive ex.

Within minutes of arrival, her excitement shatters at the sight of her ex already there. Clinging to the hope his position with botanical sciences will keep him away from her team, she forces herself to continue.

On her first day in the ruins, she makes a profound discovery… but something goes terribly wrong.

Her domineering ex soon becomes the least of her problems as an unstoppable alien threat plunges Wayfarer Outpost into chaos. Trapped in an isolated facility with death stalking every corridor, Kerys finds herself up against an even more insidious threat than ancient aliens: the truth.

Cover Reveal | A Nighttime of Forever

Lots of covers going on these days! I’m pleased to announce the final cover for A Nighttime of Forever, the first book in my upcoming new vampire novel series, Vampire Innocent.

(Release date is still up in the air, but I’m hoping for late Feb / early March.)

Sarah Wright woke up a few times after parties in strange places―but the morgue’s a first.

At eighteen, she’s eager for a taste of independence, moving out of state to attend college. A change of scenery is extra-needed due to a bad breakup with her boyfriend, Scott. However, soon after escaping the body cooler, she makes two startling realizations: vampires are real, and she is one.

There’s nothing quite like an untimely death to ruin plans. California’s sunny beaches aren’t the best place for vampires to chill, and worse, not only does she wind up stuck in Seattle, she’s still living (figuratively) with her parents.

They take the news surprisingly well―after all, it’s better than burying her―even helping move her bedroom to the basement. A disinterested sire, distraught friends, nosy Men in Black, and awestruck younger siblings complicate her adjustment to the new normal of being an immortal still subject to her parents’ rules.

Undeath has its perks, but it also brings enemies. Without a copy of ‘Fangs for Dummies,’ Sarah’s left scrambling for answers when one such new enemy attacks her siblings and friends. If she can’t figure out how to vampire, her attempt to spare her family the grief of losing her may wind up killing them.

Cover Reveal | The Forest Beyond the Earth

Happy Friday everyone!

I’m beyond excited! The cover for The Forest Beyond the Earth is done – and here it is, courtesy of the amazingly talented Amalia Chitulescu. (Hoping to release this book before the end of Feb.)

Under the watchful eye of the Mother Shrine, twelve-year-old Wisp ekes out a simple, but challenging life with Dad, foraging for food and losing herself in old books from the world that came before. She loves the Endless Forest―except when the Tree Walkers come for her.

In ages past, the great rain of fire and ash destroyed the Earth, wiping out the ancients and everything they had made. Nature has reclaimed much since then, spreading out in a vast forest full of wonder and dread. Ever in fear of being taken away, she follows Dad’s rules without question while learning to survive off the land.

No longer a small child, Dad brings her along on a trek, her first time more than a few steps away from the cabin. A day exploring with him is the happiest time of her life, but joy is short-lived.

A monster follows them home.

Safe in her Haven, she hides while Dad goes outside to confront the beast. She wakes alone the next morning, and waits. Alas, her hope of his return fades with the daylight. Desperate, she breaks his strictest rule and goes outside alone. Not far from the cabin, she discovers his rifle abandoned next to the monster’s strange footprints.

Afraid but determined, Wisp sets off on her own into the Endless Forest to find Dad―before the Tree Walkers catch her.

Cover Reveal | The Redeemed

Greetings!

I’m thrilled to reveal the cover for the second book in the Roadhouse Chronicles series – The Redeemed!

Release date 12/19/17

(This book follows One More Run)

The worst part about chasing one’s dream is catching it.

Six months ago, Kevin opened a Roadhouse of his own. No longer the idiot braving the dangerous post-nuclear highways of 2073, he thought he’d finally grow old and happy selling bullets, beds, and booze to those still foolish enough to get behind the wheel.

Then, he’d met her.

The white-haired outcast from the xenophobic Enclave crashed into his life, becoming the conscience he never wanted and everything he desired. She couldn’t save the world from the Virus, but she could save Kevin’s dream.

A biker gang calling themselves the Redeemed starts shooting up Roadhouses in flagrant disregard of the Code, shattering the serenity of his humble waystation. When the long-vaunted retribution of Amarillo’s army fails to materialize, Kevin feels more like a sitting duck than he ever did on the road―but it’s not his ‘house he fears losing.

Determined to protect her, he takes it upon himself to enforce the unwritten law of the Roadhouse.
